Dish Network’s semi-independent internet video streaming platform isn’t slowing down in in its efforts to extend its market footprint. Sling TV said last Wednesday that its video service now streams directly to LG’s web-enabled TV sets. The customer, in other words, can stream the video directly to the LG TV set, without needing an additional streaming device such as Roku, Chromecast, or Amazon Fire TV.
Sling TV is the first OTT or virtual MVPD*** service available on any LG TV set without support from an additional streaming device. The service will be available on the following LG models: OLED B6, OLED C6, OLED E6, OLED G6, UH5500, UH6090, UH6100, UH6150, UH6300, UH6350, UH6500, UH6550, UH7500, UH7700, UH8500, and UH9500.
Getting the Sling TV app is easy, and it just got even easier. Buyers of LG smart TV sets can enroll for it directly through the LG Content Store.
Ben Weinberger, Sling TV’s Chief Product Officer, issued the following official statement about the matter: “Offering Sling TV on LG’s award-winning, top-of-the-line TVs gives viewers more control over how they watch Sling TV so they can view their favorite programs without the need for additional devices or unnecessary input-switching.”
Sling TV is already available through Chromecast, Roku, Amazon Fire TV, Android TV, and fourth-generation Apple TV dedicated streaming devices; Xbox One gaming consoles; Roku TV sets; Channel Master’s DVR+; the Air TVPlayer; iOS and Android tablets and phones; and most web browsers.
