Streaming Video Players in U S Households
Streaming Video Players in U S Households
Where broadband internet service goes, streaming video is likely to follow. So a leading market analysis firm claims, anyway. According to Parks Associates, 41% of U.S. households with broadband have streaming video players.
Streaming video is sent over the internet. It doesn’t require dedicated cable or satellite boxes.
Parks released its study at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas. The study stemmed from a survey of 10,000 households with broadband. Parks said 39% of U S households had streaming players in 2019, and the percentage grew to 43% in one year.
41% of U S Households with Broadband Have Streaming Video Players
Park also revealed that the average household has 14.5 connected devices. This surprised us. We had thought the average would be about half of this.s
In addition, Parks found the following :
- 41% of U.S. households with broadband have streaming video players.
- 38% of U.S. broadband households have gaming consoles.
- 36% of U.S. broadband households subscribe to, or are trying, video gaming service.
- More than 30 million households, at least 31% of the total, use free ad-supported streaming services.
- 50% of cord-cutters cited high cost of traditional video service as the reason for cancelling them.
Nearly Half of U S Households Have Multiple Streaming Services
And Americans have, on average, more streaming subscriptions than we had guessed. In December, Parks found that 49% of U.S. households have four or more. With the number of conventional video subs declining while this occurs, streaming-only video subscribers may be the majority by the end of the year.
The most popular streaming video players include: Roku, Amazon Fire TV, Apple TV, Google Chromecast, Sling, TiVo, and Android TV.
