Curiositystream Carried by Sling TV
Sling TV has never been hesitant to forge deals to broaden its appeal. Now it has signed a distribution contract with Curiositystream, and will offer the documentary channel as a premium for $6.00 per month.
Sling Orange and Sling Blue customers can see free previews of the channel through December 13. For access, they need merely to enable the Curiositystream app on their channel guides. They can also add the channel to their account preferences. For those who buy it, the channel will be listed on their program guides.
Curiositystream, founded by the former owner of Discovery Networks, bills itself as “the world’s first on-demand, ad-free streaming service delivering factual content in the areas of science, technology, civilization, and the human spirit”. The service offers more than 1500 documentaries on demand, mostly about science, technology, nature, and history. New series and movies are added every week. Most are available in HD and 4K.
Sling TV Adds Two More Specialized Channels
Sling TV announced today that it has added two more specialized channels: Up Faith & Family and Pantaya. The first offers ‘family-oriented’ upbeat movies and series. The second offers a wide variety of Spanish-language movies. UP will cost $5.00 per month, and Pantaya will cost $6.00 per month.
Though less than three years old, Sling TV has nearly 1.7 subscribers.
