BIRTHDAY (SLING TV) BRINGS FREE HBO
BIRTHDAY FOR SLING TV BRINGS FREE HBO
Sling TV knows how to throw a party. For its second birthday, Dish Network’s semi-independent streaming video platform has launched several promotions.
Last weekend, Sling TV offered to new prospective customers a free preview of its Orange (single stream) service. It was in time for the season premiere of The Walking Dead. This week, Sling TV is offering free previews of HBO. Until Monday, February 20, all of its Orange and Blue customers will have free access to HBO live and on-demand.
The Blue service tier supports multiple streams per household.
The free preview is perfectly timed for the heavily hyped season premieres of Crashing and Big Little Lies. Crashing is a comedy series about a comedian who reexamines his life after discovering his wife’s infidelity. Big Little Lies is a comedy-drama, starring Nicole Kidman and Reese Witherspoon, about three mothers whose lives become chaotic until they’re willing to consider murder. Both premieres will air on February 19.
Once the free preview period ends, Sling TV customers have the option of adding HBO to their core packages for $15.00 per month.
There is more. On its website, Sling TV said it will soon offer a free preview of Starz. Though the streaming platform doesn’t carry Starz yet, it is contractually committed to doing so shortly.
Sling TV may be announcing other promotions soon. It is encouraging people to follow its birthday hashtag, #SlingTurnsTwo, until the end of February.
Sling TV isn’t stopping with free previews. Last month, it offered a beta test of its Cloud DVR for users with Roku devices. The Cloud DVR will soon be available with Amazon Fire TV, Android TV, and Android devices. Later, it will be available with Apple TV.
