Windows 10 Gets Sling TV
WINDOWS 10 GETS SLING TV
Sling TV, Dish Network’s internet video streaming platform, has expanded its reach almost continually since its launch. The range of devices that will accept it continues to grow.
Add computers with Windows 10, Microsoft’s newest operating system, to the list. Last Thursday, Sling TV announced that its streaming video service will work on Windows 10 tablets and PCs, and access to Sling TV on such devices is live now through an app offered in the Windows App Store. Meanwhile, Sling TV continues to support older PC software.
Sling TV’s Windows 10 app was designed to get the most out of the new operating system. The app will display Windows Live Tiles, with “Favorites” and “Continue Watching” tabs prominent when Sling TV is pinned to the Start Menu. The app also enables Touch, a vertical main menu on Sling TV.
The new Windows 10 app is highly responsive. It can be adjusted to take up only half the screen, and will adapt to a wide variety of screen sizes. It works with Cortana, Microsoft’s personalized digital agent, so the viewer can search for shows or channels by voice command.
SLING TV ADDS STARZ & PAC-12 NETWORKS
Sling TV added Starz and Starz Encore to its channel lineup on Thursday. The combination will be free until September 14, and will add a mere $9.00 per month to the subscription fee afterward. The Starz packages will add nearly 3,000 movie titles to Sling TV’s library.
Sling TV also announced on Thursday that it will carry college sports broadcasts from the Pac-12 Networks.
